Rack-Assist Electric Power Steering (REPS) is designed for heavier vehicles to handle higher front-axle loads and optimize packaging space. Our REPS systems are capable of steering mid-sized vehicles up to full-size trucks – for all propulsion types including internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles and electric vehicles (EVs).
System electronics are integrated with the steering rack housing and are designed to withstand the high temperatures and environmental exposure typical in the engine compartment.
In addition to saving valuable space in engine compartments, our REPS systems’ unitized motor-controllers are easily fitted to different vehicle platforms. They reduce assembly costs and increase performance integrity compared to systems employing remote electronic controls.
Nexteer produced the world’s first 12-volt REPS system in 2010, and today, we are featured on 75% of North America’s full-size trucks.
We also offer High Availability, Modular and High Output options for our REPS systems.
High Output REPS
Our High Output (HO) REPS increases load capacity up to 27kN – which supports increased loads for EVs as well as opens new hydraulic-to-electric conversion options for heavy-duty trucks.
Advantages of our HO REPS
- Enhanced fuel economy via mass reduction & on-demand engine auto start/stop
- Better steering feel via reduced friction
- Enhanced safety via High Availability electrical architecture & advanced driver assist features
- Better consumer value: Helps OEMs close the “Price-to-Feature Gap” between light-duty & heavy-duty trucks
