AUBURN HILLS, Mich. – Dec. 8, 2016 – Nexteer Automotive, a global leader in intuitive motion control, has been named an IDG CSO50 Award recipient for its implementation of an advanced identity lifecycle management program, increasing corporate security, productivity and cost-savings. The award recognizes 50 organizations for security projects and actions that drive business initiatives through enhancing defense and delivering return on investment.
As part of a global, enterprise-wide assessment performed in late 2015, Nexteer identified several areas for enhancing privacy and security focused on employee on-boarding and off-boarding, cloud computing and intellectual property protection. Due to rapid growth, the company was quickly nearing the limits of its existing systems for managing employee credentials, resulting in redundant, inefficient activities by multiple departments and potential security risks.
In line with its commitment to its workforce, operational excellence and sustainable growth, Nexteer proactively launched an identity lifecycle management project, “NEXTINTRUST”, to overhaul and integrate existing systems for global consistency. By streamlining the existing Active Directory domain services and introducing an enterprise identity lifecycle management (ILM) tool, Nexteer simplified its business processes, mitigated enterprise risks and enabled systems integration to 10 cloud applications.
“NEXTINTRUST enhances our data security, improves employees’ productivity and helps us to collaborate more efficiently across our global teams,” said Arun DeSouza, Chief Information Security Officer, Nexteer Automotive. “We are nearing our goal of completely automating the end-to-end user provisioning and de-provisioning process and providing Single Sign On (SSO) for major enterprise applications globally. NEXTINTRUST strengthens our One Nexteer people focus via unified identity management.”
Nexteer estimates the NEXTINTRUST deployment will generate extensive multi-year savings due to both tangible and intangible benefits as illustrated by the following metrics:
- Enable payback < 1 year (with tangible benefits alone)
- Increase major application provisioning efficiency by 50 percent
- Reduce password resets for ILM integrated applications by 75 percent
- Decrease overall enterprise passwords per user by 25 percent
- Enhance security by reducing risk of a data breach by 15 percent
