AUBURN HILLS, Mich. – July 18, 2017 – Nexteer Automotive, a leader in intuitive motion control, held its second annual Global Service Day on July 14 to support environmental activities and serve communities across three continents: North America, South America and Asia. This annual event aims to serve the communities in which Nexteer has a major presence.
“Nexteer’s Global Service Day is a coordinated team effort among employees, our families, partner organizations and charities,” said Luis Canales, executive director, Global Corporate Affairs, Nexteer Automotive. “It’s rewarding to see the impact we can make – together around the world – in 24 hours and across four time zones in the communities where we live, work and play.”
Over the course of the day, 415 volunteers from Nexteer’s global workforce contributed an estimated 1,534 hours to support local initiatives:
Saginaw, Michigan, USA – The Nexteer team cleaned up and performed park maintenance on the tennis and basketball courts, playground and baseball diamond at Saginaw’s Kueffner Park. Volunteers also painted the park building and pavilion. Seventy volunteers spent a total of 280 hours onsite at the park.
Auburn Hills, Michigan, USA – Twenty-two Nexteer employees spent 66 hours at HAVEN of Oakland County mulching, weeding and harvesting vegetables from their garden.
Querétaro, Mexico – One hundred ten Nexteer team members spent 440 hours revitalizing a local San Miguel Amazcala primary school’s playground, library and facilities as well as providing training for teachers.
Porto Alegre, Brazil – Eighteen Nexteer employees contributed 69 hours to the beautification of a local elementary school playground in Vila Dique by repairing and painting playground equipment, and adding new flower beds and gardens.
Suzhou, Liuzhou, Beijing, Wuhu, Chongqing and Zhouzhou, China, and Bengaluru, India – Nexteer team members in China and India focused on helping the environment by cleaning up parks, recycling and planting trees in their local neighborhoods. The Chinese team of 195 volunteers spent 679 hours at various project locations.
