Nexteer & Richard Childress Racing Launch 2nd Year of Partnership at Daytona International Speedway

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. – February 21, 2017 – Nexteer Automotive and Richard Childress Racing (RCR) launch their second year of partnership in the 2017 NASCAR XFINITY Series on Saturday, February 25 at Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida. This marks Nexteer’s second consecutive year as an RCR partner on Brandon Jones’ No. 33 Chevrolet Camaro.

The season-opening race at Daytona is the first of four NASCAR XFINITY races in which Nexteer is a primary sponsor on the No. 33 Chevrolet Camaro:

  • February 25 – Daytona International Speedway
  • May 6 – Talladega Speedway
  • June 17 – Michigan International Speedway
  • October 6 – Charlotte Motor Speedway

Nexteer will also serve as an associate sponsor for the No. 33 Chevrolet Camaro in additional XFINITY Series events, as well as select Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series races.

Building on the success of last year’s partnership, Nexteer and RCR will continue featuring its shared winning formula of innovation, systems integration and high performance with safety. Nexteer will continue showcasing its advanced steering technologies. In turn, RCR will continue benefitting from Nexteer’s power steering technology, renowned for exceptional performance, handling and safety.

“Nexteer had a thrilling time expanding our role in NASCAR during our first season with Richard Childress Racing and Brandon Jones,” said Luis Canales, Nexteer’s Executive Director of Corporate Affairs. “Beyond our partnership with RCR, we’ve been involved with NASCAR for years, as our steering systems have consistently improved performance vehicles’ safety, responsiveness and handling in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup and XFINITY Series. The RCR-Nexteer partnership has been a strong platform to showcase Nexteer’s and RCR’s shared winning formula.”

Last year during Jones’ rookie season, the Atlanta native recorded three top-10 finishes while carrying the Nexteer colors and is looking forward to the season-opening race at Daytona International Speedway.

“I enjoyed getting to know the Nexteer team and visiting their headquarters last year to see their advanced steering and driveline technology first-hand,” said Jones, driver of the No. 33 Nexteer Chevrolet Camaro. “I was proud to showcase their capabilities last season and am happy they have the confidence in RCR and me to return as a partner for the 2017 season. I look forward to helping grow their brand even more this season.”
