SAGINAW, Michigan – May 28, 2020 – To support those impacted by the recent, record-breaking flooding in Michigan’s Great Lakes Bay Region, Nexteer will be making a $30,000 donation to the United Way of Saginaw County to assist with flood relief efforts. In addition to this initial donation, Nexteer is also committing up to an additional $30,000 to match employee donations (dollar for dollar) through June 11 – effectively doubling each employee’s donation. Nexteer is working with the United Way of Saginaw County for the donation collection, which employees can make either online or via text message.
On May 21, Nexteer also teamed up with the United Way of Saginaw County and UAW Local 699 to collect donations for families affected by the flooding. Both Nexteer employees and members of the community donated to the drive, which was held in Nexteer’s Plant 3 parking lot in Saginaw. More than 10,000 items, ranging from cleaning products to food, tools and personal hygiene items, were collected at the event.
“Nexteer has called the Great Lakes Bay Region home for more than 100 years, and we are committed to helping our local community recover from this devastating flood,” said Dennis Hoeg, Vice President and North America President, Nexteer Automotive. “Nexteer has a strong culture of volunteering and supporting the Saginaw community, which is why we acted quickly to set up the donation drive and are making a monetary donation to the United Way of Saginaw County.”
While Nexteer’s manufacturing, technical and administrative facilities in Saginaw were not impacted by the flood, many Nexteer employees have been personally impacted as they live in the Great Lakes Bay Region.
“Nexteer has been a strong community partner and leader for many years, and we thank them for stepping up quickly to help our community in need during this difficult time,” said Audra Davis
President/CEO, United Way of Saginaw County. “Nexteer’s monetary donation and the supplies collected at their donation drive will provide relief to many local families as they rebuild and recover from this devastating, once-in-a-lifetime flood.”
Nexteer is also extending the opportunity to donate to its US supply base via an online portal.
